Mirelurk is a catch-all term for a variety of heavily mutated crustacean or turtle species. Among the first mutants to be encountered, they are tenacious survivors, heavily armoured and extremely deadly for anything too slow to outrun them.

Forming the bulk of a hive, these crab-like crustaceans are the bane of many unwary Wastelanders who accidentally stumble across them lying motionless & hidden, with only their dull shell indicating their presence. Mirelurks are both patient hunters and dedicated sentinels: emerging from the muck with snapping claws and chittering barbles to violently drag down prey in a frenzy of violence, before resuming their camouflaged vigil.
